Another Friend caring for water

Friends of Humanity considers access to clean water a paramount right for everyone in the world and intends to focus on this topic in the near future. In the meantime, we are happy to relay that another NGO is effectively working with a philosophy similar to ours.

Friendly Water for the World works on a no-nonsense basis: providing local community with a very simple and sustainable technology for clean water, in order to allow them to be independent in a very short time. The key factor is the biosand filters, easily produced with materials available on the spot, which can reduce the presence of bacteria and viruses in the water by 95 - 99%. In the region where Friendly Water for the World is working, the rate of dysentery has dropped up to 85%.

Born in Olympia, Washington, USA, this NGO is the brainchild of two Quakers, David Albert and Del Livingstone, but they refuse any notion of proselytism in their work, and are willing to support people from any faith and tradition. They working mainly in Kenya now, but they are also active in India and Burundi.
