FOH and Fondation Philias

The Fondation Philias was created in Geneva in 1999 with the goal of promoting the idea of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and putting it into practice. According to Philias, a company aware and conscious of its social responsibility will have a positive impact on the surrounding community and environment. To reach this target, Philias works to bring the different actors together, in a human, open and pragmatic way, far from dogmatism and easy judgement.

In this context Philias organizes Humagora, an event where non-profit actors and the private sector meet, and common projects are developed. On May 4, 2011, Friends of Humanity was invited to the 5th edition of Humagora, and had an opportunity to present its activities.

Among the 15 different projects, the first prize was awarded to the partnership between Adecco Switzerland and ORIF, a non-profit association that helps reinserting disabled people in the labour market. This was considered by the jury the best achieved example of social responsibility. Other partnerships involved big companies such as Nestlé (working with the Swiss Labour Assistance Group on a free-bicycle system in Vevey), Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and L'Oreal, as well as renowned non-profit associations like the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Caritas and Emmaus (these last two were partners of L'Oreal in a project aimed at giving self-esteem back to feamle victims of bad treatment)
